While there are plenty of family resorts in Ubud, Bali, nothing surprised us more than our stay at Seres Springs Resort. From the exceptional customer service to the high-quality finishes and touches of luxury, we were genuinely impressed. What truly made it unforgettable, though, were the thoughtful kid-friendly amenities that made travelling with our toddler not just manageable — but memorable.
In this detailed family review, I’ll break down our real experience—no fluff. From stroller access to food options for picky eaters, you’ll get the truth on whether Seres Springs is actually worth booking for families visiting Ubud.

Why We Chose Seres Springs Resort for Our Family Stay

- More affordable than other luxury resorts like Padma Ubud
- Online photos looked ideal for both adults and kids
- Needed family-size rooms with crib options
We chose Seres because we wanted to balance our holiday between action-packed water fun for our 3-year-old son Benji at the Hard Rock Hotel for the first 5 nights with something more relaxing and peaceful toward the end of our trip in Ubud. We were searching for something between a private villa but with hotel amenities and convenience, with some kid-friendly services like a kids club area that had a ball pit, toddler toys, children’s books, and even video games for teenagers.
Seres had exceptional reviews on Expedia with a rating of 9.4 despite being built in 2017, which gave us confidence it would deliver on comfort and service.

Room Setup & Sleep Quality – Family Comfort First
For our stay, we selected the Sutera Garden Villa with Private Pool, which is one of the more premium options at around $350 per night versus a standard deluxe room at $250 per night (2025 prices).
We were completely awed at how luxurious it was. The villa came with:
- A private pool
- A king bed
- A large 90 sqm layout
- A separate bathtub and shower that connects directly to the pool and the internal bathroom
- Dual sink basins for added convenience
- Granite stone finishings and plenty of sitting areas
We had a very comfortable sleep. They also added an extra single bed for Benji, which was part of the daily housekeeping service.
While the villa offered luxurious comfort, it’s not fully childproof. The private pool is not fenced, presenting a real hazard for families with toddlers or infants. To be honest, it felt more suited to a honeymoon or romantic getaway—but Seres did their best to support families with service and amenities. The golf buggy service to the villa and 24/7 WhatsApp concierge was a thoughtful touch.
Kid-Friendly Features & Amenities – How Did It Score?
- Pool safety: Not fenced, mini infinity pool design. Supervision required at all times.
- High chairs & kids menu: Available and helpful.
- Stroller access: Good in the main hotel areas. Villas require stairs or buggy access.
- Cribs: Available on request.
- Staff: Exceptionally friendly, especially toward children. Always willing to help—whether it was carrying luggage, providing child seats, or handing us bottled water before heading out.
There’s also a kids club area with a small ball pit, books, toys, and a gaming room for teens. While not expansive, it was enough for a short play session with Benji.
Food & Dining – Will Your Kids Eat Here?
The breakfast buffet was fantastic. Highlights:
- Made-to-order egg station (omelets, eggs benedict, shakshuka)
- Western and Asian selections
- Yoghurt, cereals, fresh fruit, baked goods, juice station
- A la carte coffee and tea
Our son Benji stuck to his favourites: bread, cereal, rice, milk, and bakery treats.
There’s also onsite dining for lunch and dinner with diverse options: Indonesian, Western, Indian, and Chinese. Room service was top-tier—we ordered spaghetti bolognese for Benji and had it delivered right to our villa poolside.
Dining was relaxed and stress-free. We appreciated not needing to leave the resort for every meal.
Location – Close to Family Attractions in Ubud?
- About 15 minutes from Ubud town centre (via taxi/Grab)
- Around 10 minutes from Monkey Forest
- Only 20 minutes to Bali Zoo or Bali Bird Park
While the resort is in a secluded area, it offers easy access to key attractions by car. Walking isn’t recommended unless you want to explore the surrounding rice fields and local villages.
We even spotted some local Balinese ceremonies happening nearby during a Grab ride—a unique experience! Surrounded by a river and rice fields, the atmosphere was tranquil and perfect for winding down.
What Could Be Better – Downsides for Families
- No babysitting services, though the kids club exists
- Pool tiles can be slippery, especially near the infinity edge
- Not ideal for infants or young toddlers due to lack of fencing
- Limited play areas or all-day activities for kids
- Villas require stair access; buggies help but require a request and wait
If you’re looking for an all-in kids-focused resort like Hard Rock Hotel, Seres might feel a little quiet. However, we loved having a private pool we could use anytime without restrictions. Just being able to roll out of bed and swim with Benji in our own space was magical.
A lift for villa access would be a great improvement for families or older guests.
Final Verdict – Is Seres Springs Ubud Worth It for Families?

- Less suited for those expecting full-on kids entertainment
- Great for parents seeking a balance of comfort, peace, and light kid-friendliness
- We’d definitely return—with realistic expectations
If you want a balanced holiday, pairing a vibrant resort like Hard Rock Hotel with a peaceful, luxurious retreat like Seres is a perfect combination. Seres offers a romantic, serene atmosphere that still makes room for families without fully catering to them.
With 5-star service, a tranquil location, and gorgeous villa options, it’s a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of Ubud town while still being close enough to explore major attractions. While we didn’t try the spa this time, we left Seres feeling relaxed, grateful, and wowed by the beauty and service.
