Rosso Balmain Review (2025): Best Italian Pizza on EatClub?

Rosso Balmain Review EatClub 2025

Our Rosso Balmain Review

Looking for the best Italian restaurant in Balmain on EatClub? Check out our Rosso Balmain Review below.

We tried Rosso Balmain with a 30% EatClub deal to see whether the pizza, atmosphere and service actually live up to the hype — and whether it’s worth going even without the discount.

Here’s what we ordered, what we thought, and what we really paid.

How We Ended Up Here

We first noticed Rosso while eating at Forli across the street. The restaurant looked modern and inviting, with a bold neon pizza sign that felt like it was calling us in.

As a family of three with a four-year-old, pizza and Italian is one of the few cuisines we can all agree on right now — simple, familiar, and reliably enjoyable for our son.

So on Halloween night, after trick-or-treating along Renwick Street in Drummoyne, we finally decided to give it a try. We booked a 30% EatClub deal, walked in, and it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise.

What We Ordered

DishPrice
Diavola$27
Capricciosa$28
Margherita$24
Gamberi Classica$30.35
Insalata Mista$19
Service Fee$3.99
Total Before Discount$132.34

How the Food Tasted

Margherita

Authentic tomato base, fior di latte, and a thin Neapolitan-style crust — exactly how we like it.

This is also our go-to pizza for our four-year-old, and it’s a reliable winner here.

Diavola

The salami brings real heat rather than oily spice. The pizza stays light, balanced, and not greasy.

The addition of capsicum adds a subtle sweetness and texture — something we actually enjoyed more than the standard Diavola you find elsewhere.

Capricciosa

A classic we always order when trying a new pizzeria.

This one included artichoke — which many places skip — and it made a noticeable difference in flavour authenticity.

Gamberi Classica

Fresh prawns, garlic oil, and clean seasoning. Not rubbery, not oily, and not drowned in toppings.

This particular one was on special rather than part of the core pizza menu — it was good, though we generally prefer the prawn pizza at Via Napoli, which has a slightly stronger seafood flavour profile.

Insalata Mista

Fresh greens, lightly dressed, refreshing — an actual palate reset rather than filler. A good side to break up the richness of the pizza.

Overall

Rosso delivers true Neapolitan-style pizza — thin, light, and easy to eat without feeling heavy afterward. The pricing is also very reasonable at around $27–28 per pizza, which is excellent for young families or anyone watching dining costs.

With the additional 30% EatClub deal, we were paying roughly $19–20 per pizza.

Service & Atmosphere

The customer service at Rosso Balmain was surprisingly good for a casual neighbourhood pizzeria. The staff were attentive, polite, and always one step ahead without ever feeling intrusive.

We asked for our son’s pizza to come out first while we decided what to order next, and they delivered it promptly — no reminders, no confusion. That level of attentiveness is rare in restaurants at this price point and really set the tone for the evening.

The restaurant itself strikes the perfect balance between relaxed and refined. You get the warmth and energy of a buzzing local pizzeria, paired with the kind of professionalism you’d expect from a high-end Italian restaurant.

It’s also clearly a family favourite — we noticed multiple tables with young children and babies, which made the atmosphere feel lively yet comfortable. This is the kind of place where you can bring the grandparents and a toddler, and everyone feels right at home.

FAQs: Rosso Balmain

Q1: Who runs Rosso Balmain and what’s its background?

A: The team behind it include:

  • Gianca, former owner of Rosso Pomodoro in Balmain.
  • Miki, former Head Chef at Pilu (Bondi Junction).
  • Fede, former GM at Rockpool Bar & Grill.  So although the “Rosso” pizza heritage in Balmain traces back (via Rosso Pomodoro) to 2006, the name Rosso Balmain emphasises this new-venture team rather than being a simple continuation.

Q2: What type/style of pizza do they serve? What makes Rosso Balmain different?

A: Their pizzas follow a Neapolitan-style approach: thin napoli base, simple and quality toppings, natural dough, stone-fired. For example, the Margherita features tomato base, fior di latte, basil. Their menu emphasises classic Italian flavours rather than over-the-top Aussie pizza toppings.

According to the Chamber of Commerce write-up: “ensures our pizzas stay true to their roots.”

What makes them unique: restaurant-grade hospitality in a neighbourhood setting, strong pizza credentials (via the team), approachable prices, and family-friendly atmosphere.

Q3: Is Rosso Balmain family friendly / suitable for children?

A: Yes — we observed many tables with young children and babies.

Their menu includes a “kids size pasta with tomato sauce” (penne al pomodoro per bambini) listed at $15.

And the venue appears in lists of child-friendly restaurants in Balmain.

Tip: Arrive a bit early or book, especially on busy nights, to avoid waiting with young kids.

Q4: What’s the pricing like? What did we pay?

A: Typical pizza prices ranged around $24–$30 for main pizzas. According to their menu: Margherita $24, Diavola $27, etc.

In our visit (4 adults + 1 child), we ordered 5 dishes (including 4 pizzas and 1 salad) and used a 30% off deal via EatClub: total bill ~$132.34 before discount, ~$96.63 after. That works out to roughly ~$19 per head.

So value is good especially with deals, and even without, the baseline pricing is reasonable for Balmain.

Q5: Do they do take-away / delivery?

A: Yes — their website says they do pickup and Uber Eats delivery.

If you go with kids and want convenience, delivery or pickup is a viable option.

Q6: Booking / parking / accessibility tips?

A: For booking: It’s wise to book on weekends, especially if you’re with a family and want a table. On less busy nights you may walk-in, but expect possible wait.

Parking: Darling Street in Balmain can be busy; side streets or arriving earlier may ease the process.

Seating: The atmosphere supports families (young children, relaxed vibe) but maintains restaurant standards.

Special needs: While not all details listed publicly, the venue claims “welcoming” atmosphere.

Q7: How does Rosso Balmain compare with other Italian spots via EatClub?

A: If you’re focused on pizza alone, Rosso Balmain stands out for its Neapolitan base, strong value, family-friendly setting.

If you want a wider variety of pasta or large “showpiece” pizzas (e.g., 1 metre-long pizzas), then another venue such as Via Napoli might be worth considering .

So your choice depends on whether your priority is pizza quality + value + family-friendly or extensive pasta menu + large format novelty.
